Storage Licence — Terms & Conditions
Placid Group Australia Pty Ltd · ABN 22 695 488 674 · 27 Toolooa Street, South Gladstone QLD 4680
Version 2026-08-A. Governed by the laws of Queensland and the Australian Consumer Law.
1. Who these terms are between
These terms form a licence agreement between Placid Group Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 22 695 488 674) (“we”, “us”, “Placid Storage”) and the person who books a space (“you”, the “Storer”). By booking, paying and signing (electronically or otherwise), you accept these terms.
2. What you are getting — a licence, not a lease
We grant you a licence to use a car bay or storage unit / locker (the “Space”) at our gated yard at 27 Toolooa Street, South Gladstone QLD 4680 (the “Facility”). This is a personal licence to occupy the Space — it is not a lease of land, and it is not a bailment of your goods. We do not take possession, custody or control of anything you store. You keep control of your goods at all times.
3. Identity, access and your padlock
- Identity verification. Before gate access is issued you must verify your identity by providing photo ID (driver licence or passport) through your customer portal. We may withhold or revoke access until identity is reasonably verified.
- Gate access is issued after your first payment clears and your ID is verified. Depending on the equipment in use, access is by the mobile number you registered (the gate recognises your number when you call it — the call is free and hangs up automatically) and/or a unique PIN. Keep your PIN private and your registered mobile secure; you are responsible for their use.
- For storage units / lockers, you supply and fit your own padlock and keep the only key or combination. We do not hold a key and cannot access the inside of your unit.
- Gate access is available 24 hours a day, subject to these terms (access hours may change with notice).
- Only you and people you authorise may use your Space and access credentials. Tell us before authorising anyone else so their number can be registered.
4. Fees and payment
- Fees are the amounts shown at booking, payable in advance for each weekly or monthly period. All prices include GST where applicable.
- Payment is by card through our secure payment provider (Stripe) and, for recurring bookings, is charged automatically each period.
- Your booking continues from period to period until ended under clause 8.
- We may change fees for future periods by giving you at least 14 days’ notice.
5. If payment is late (default)
If a payment is not received by its due date, and to the extent permitted by law:
- Access may be suspended — your gate access may stop working until your account is brought up to date. Access is restored automatically once you catch up.
- If your account remains overdue, we may overlock the gate/Facility so the Space cannot be accessed. We do not remove or cut your padlock except as set out below.
- If your account stays in arrears, we may recover the debt and deal with uncollected goods in accordance with the Storage Liens Act 1973 (Qld) and the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act 1967 (Qld). This can include, after the notice periods those laws require, selling the stored goods to recover what you owe and returning any surplus to you. We will give you the written notices the law requires before doing so.
6. Insurance and risk — your goods are stored at your own risk
- You store your goods entirely at your own risk. Because we do not have custody or control of your goods, you are responsible for their safety.
- We strongly recommend you take out and maintain your own insurance covering your goods (and any stored vehicle) for their full value.
- To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss of or damage to your goods (including from theft, fire, water, pests, mould or the acts of others). Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
7. What you must not store or do
You must not store, and must not allow anyone to store, any of the following:
- Anything illegal, stolen, or the proceeds of crime;
- Firearms, explosives, ammunition, fireworks, or weapons;
- Flammable, toxic, hazardous or dangerous goods, fuels (other than in a vehicle’s own tank), chemicals or gas bottles;
- Perishable food, waste, or anything that may attract pests or create odours;
- Living things (people, animals or plants);
- Cash, jewellery, or irreplaceable items of high value.
You must keep your Space clean, not cause a nuisance or damage, not live or work in the Space, and comply with our reasonable directions and all laws while at the Facility. Vehicles must be roadworthy or on a trailer, hold current registration where stored under their own power, and must not leak fuel or oil.
8. Ending your booking
- You may end your booking at any time by giving us at least 7 days’ notice and removing all your goods and your padlock by the end of your paid period.
- Fees are payable up to the date you vacate. We do not refund part-periods already paid unless the law requires it.
- We may end this agreement by giving you reasonable notice, or immediately if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms.
- When you leave, take everything with you. Anything left behind is treated as uncollected goods under clause 5.
9. Our liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is limited to the fees you paid us in the 3 months before the event giving rise to the claim. This clause does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
10. Privacy
We collect your personal information (including identity documents, contact, vehicle and payment details) to provide the storage service, verify identity, manage gate access and comply with the law. It is handled in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles, stored securely, and never sold. Identity documents are used only for verification and are deleted on request once your account is closed and our legal obligations allow.
11. Changes, notices and law
- We may update these terms; the version in force is the one shown on our website. Material changes will be notified to you.
- We may send notices to the email or mobile number on your booking. You must keep your contact details current.
- This agreement is governed by the laws of Queensland, and you submit to the courts of Queensland.
